Read This When You Feel Like Giving Up

Choosing to follow your dreams is one of the scariest, yet most fulfilling journeys. Despite what social media will tell you, you don’t formulate an idea, create it, and then become successful overnight. It’s a long, tiring journey and it’s filled with ups and downs, triumphs and disappointments, throwing in the towel and picking it up again.

With the influx of people creating new businesses, it seems that every market is oversaturated and the competition is tough. You find yourself questioning whether you should return to the traditional nine-to-five, give up, and forget about the dream you have.

Don’t!

Though there may be a false sense of security and stability with a traditional job, nothing is guaranteed. Don’t allow fear to force you into staying at a job that makes you miserable. Stepping out into the unknown is scary because you can fail, but you can also succeed. And, even if entrepreneurship isn’t for you and you enjoy working a nine-to-five job, don’t become complacent with your current position and/or company. Work until you have the position you want with a company you love, and don’t settle for anything less!

Yes, it’s going to be difficult, it’s going to break you down, you’re going to question yourself, your talent, and your faith, but don’t you stop. All it takes is one moment to change your life forever. One person coming across your work, one yes after countless nos, one opportunity, that’s all you need to get things moving in the right direction. After the stagnancy, money loss, and time you felt was wasted, your life changes almost instantly because of one moment, but you’ll never get that if you quit on yourself.

Believe in yourself, believe in your gifts, and believe that no matter what it looks like, if this dream is planted in your heart and mind, there’s a reason for it. Not everyone will see the vision you have and they don’t need to. Not everyone will support what you’re doing, but they don’t need to. Remember why you started, why you went after this goal with everything you had, why you sacrificed so much for this dream. You see the vision, you see the potential, and that’s all you need to keep going.

If you’re looking to achieve success overnight, this is your reality check—it’s not going to happen. But, if you’re willing to be consistent, work harder than everyone else, and believe in yourself and your dream more than anyone else, you’ll get there.

If you’ve felt like quitting, or if you’ve already quit, here’s your chance to start over, reignite your passion, and go after what is already yours. The world needs what you have to offer, and no one is going to provide it in the way you do, which is why you have the vision. Keep your eyes on your own paper during the test and don’t lose focus. Someone else’s answers are not yours, someone else’s plan is not yours, someone else’s business is not yours.

Keep applying pressure until the world knows your name. I believe in you!

Can we be friends? Seriously. This post is so good. So very good. We should be friends. I agree with Vanessa, nothing but applause for this.

Believing in yourself is oh so important when stepping out to follow your dreams. One thing I’ve learned is someone is always watching and your work may not be reaching the masses (yet), but it is reaching those who need it the most. Following one’s dream is work and success doesn’t happen overnight for sure.

This is such good advice. Especially during a time when businesses everywhere start to slow down. Holding onto the vision is key!

  • Monique

Excellent advice. Maybe make some adjustments, but never give up. Great picture and nail polish, btw.

I’m exhausted and motivated at the same time.. I’m exhausted because I’ve been working hard and motivated because I want to let my day job go..

  • Leslie

I believe in you too! Thanks for the reminders and motivation to not give up!

Love the message. Remember why you started or what your end goal is is always helpful when the fear threatens to take over. I also say take each day as it comes. Don’t bring the hard things into another day if you can help it. And celebrate even the smallest of wins along the way.

Excellent inspiration when I needed it. I am definitely saving this for later, and sending it to a few friends.

This post came at the perfect time. Pushing through fear and doubt can be difficult but in the end I always find the struggle is worth the reward.
